ペルーの大地を巡る”水”と”金”の対立を描き、人々の尊厳と自然を守る闘いの重さを問いかける物語。
ペルー北部の山間部では、莫大な金の採掘量を誇る鉱山開発プロジェクト「コンガ計画」が進行していた。国家の経済成長を支える希望として期待される一方で、そこで暮らす人々は、大切な湖を奪われ、水源は汚染され、生活の基盤そのものを失いつつあった。故郷からの移住を迫られ、湖は失われる。経済発展の裏で、当たり前の暮らしを奪われていく人々の声は、はじめは小さくとも確かにそこにあった。やがてその声は、沈黙を破るように一つの意思となり、人々は静かに、しかし強く立ち上がる。
